Surgical treatment for gynecomastia can be carried out using two techniques, either alone or in combination: liposuction and breast reduction surgery. Liposuction is the technique used when the patient's breast volume is of an adipose nature. Reduction surgery, on the other hand, should be carried out when there is an excess of mammary glands.

The procedure lasts between 1 and 2 hours and is performed under sedation with local anaesthesia and on an outpatient basis or with a 24-hour hospital stay if necessary.

In 75% of cases, gynecomastia is bilateral, i.e. it affects both breasts.
