Biography and Career

Luísa Magalhães Ramos, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon, earned her medical degree at Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto, at Hospital de São João. During the last year of her medical degree, she joined the Erasmus program at the Ghent university Hospital, in Belgium. This internship was critical in her decision to pursue the Plastic Surgery Specialty as Ghent had one of the most advanced Plastic Surgery departments at the time.

Before entering her residency program at the Hospital de Vila Nova de Gaia, she spent 3 months at the Royal Victorya Hospital in Belfast as a Junior Doctor at the General Surgery Department.

In 2005, she started Plastic Surgery Specialty at the Hospital de S. José, in Lisbon. During this time, she took Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Subspecialty and worked at internationally renowned institutes such as Instituto Ivo Pitanguy (Rio de Janeiro), at Clínica Pieta (Curitiba with Professor Ruth Graf) and at Dr. Alan Matarasso and Dr. Daniel Baker´s Clinic (New York). In parallel, she did interships in breast reconstrucion at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York and in face malformation at Hospital e Reabilitação de Malformações Craniofaciais da Universidade de S. Paulo

After concluding her Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Specialty, she was the responsible doctor of the plastic surgery department until she decided to pursue a career in the aesthetic plastic surgery field, opening her own private practice in Lisbon.

Dr. Luísa Magalhães Ramos ‘dedication and investment in personal development and last generation medical equipment turned LMR Cirurgia Plástica into a reference and one of the best plastic surgery and aesthetic medicine practices in Portugal.

She takes courses and attends meetings on an annual basis for continuous knowledge update and she is also invited as a speaker for scientific events. She receives plastic surgery peers every year from al around the world to share her knowledge and new practices.

During the last few years, Dr. Luísa has been regularly attending TV programs to talk about her work as a plastic surgeon and share total makeovers/face and body transformations of patients with low self-esteem.

Nowadays, she is mainly dedicated to facial surgery (eyelids, nose, and facelift), breast surgery and female intimate surgery.

She is registered at Colégio da Especialidade de Cirurgia Plástica Reconstrutiva e Estética. She is also a member of Sociedade Portuguesa de Cirurgia Plástica, Reconstrutiva e Estética, Federação Internacional de Cirurgia Plástica Reconstrutiva e Estética and International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
