WHAT IS HYPERIDROSIS?
Hyperhidrosis is a disease characterized by excessive sweating. Sweating is a fundamental mechanism for body temperature regulation, controlled by the autonomic nervous system. This excessive sweat production is common in the armpits, palms, feet and in some cases in the hairline, causing great discomfort at a personal, social and professional level. Excessive sweating is not caused by external reasons, which is why it is not possible to control.
FOR WHOM IS
HYPERIDROSIS TREATMENT WITH TOXIN INDICATED?
Hyperhidrosis affects both men and women of various ages, so treatment through the application of toxin can be undergone by anyone who does not wish to resort to surgery to remove sweat glands.
WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT
AFTER TOXIN TREATMENT
The application of toxin almost eliminates the production of sweat in the treated area, which translates into a better quality of life. The result of the treatment is temporary, lasting approximately 6 to 9 months. For long-lasting results, you should perform the treatment once or twice a year.
TREATING HYPERIDROSIS WITH TOXIN
Aside from its aesthetic use, the toxin is also indicated to treat some pathologies, namely hyperhidrosis, offering a minimally invasive option for those who do not wish to resort to surgery. The treatment is performed through small injections at strategic points. The toxin has an inhibitory effect on the sweat glands, temporarily reducing the production of sweat in these areas.
IN WHICH AREAS OF THE BODY
CAN HYPERIDROSIS BE TREATED WITH TOXIN ?
The toxin can be applied to various areas of the body that exhibit excessive sweating. The most common areas are armpits, palms, and feet. In some cases, it might also be applied to the hairline (scalp) and neck.

FAQ about
Hyperidrosis Treatment With Toxin
IS TOXIN APPLICATION SAFE?
The treatment of hyperidrosis with toxin is minimally invasive and has a very low complication rate. However, in order to be carried out safely, you must choose an accredited clinic and a doctor with several years of experience in carrying out this type of treatments.
HOW MUCH DOES A HYPERIDROSIS TREATMENT COST IN LISBON?
The price of a hyperhidrosis treatment with toxin will depend on the areas to be treated and the amount of product required. During the medical appointment, a treatment plan will be presented with the respective price for your specific case.
IS THE TREATMENT PAINFUL?
The toxin application is fast and practically painless as very thin needles are used. However, if necessary, an anesthetic cream can be applied to the area to be treated, to make the treatment more comfortable still.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET RESULTS?
The toxin almost completely eliminates sweat production in the treated area for a period of time. The first effects appear 3 to 4 days after the application of the toxin. The end result is noticeable after two weeks.
HOW LONG DOES THE RESULT LAST?
As it is not a definitive treatment, the result lasts somewhere between 6 and 9 months. To maintain long-term results, you should repeat the treatment periodically.
FROM WHAT AGE CAN I UNDERGO THE TREATMENT?
The hyperhidrosis treatment with toxin can be performed from the moment the body is fully developed. This occurs on average around the age of 18.
CAN THE APPLICATION OF TOXIN IN ONE BODY AREA INCREASE SWEATING ON OTHER AREAS?
When hyperhidrosis is treated by surgery, it is possible to experience the so-called compensatory or reflex hyperhidrosis, that is, the sweat glands produce more sweat in some areas to compensate for their absence in others. In the case of treatment with toxin, the toxin blocks the nervous activity of the sweat glands in the treated area, keeping the autonomic nervous system intact, so there is no risk of increased sweating in other areas.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS AND ADVANTAGES REGARDING OTHER TYPES OF TREATMENTS OR SURGERY?
The main advantage of hyperhidrosis treatment with toxin is the fact that it is a non-invasive procedure, not requiring surgery, enabling you to resume your day to day activities immediately after treatment.
WHAT SIDE EFFECTS CAN I EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT?
Treatment is generally well tolerated and complications are rare. After the application of toxin, small bruises may appear in the treated area, but they disappear after a few days.
WHAT ARE THE CONTRAINDICATIONS OF TOXIN?
Treatment is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Specific health conditions must be evaluated by the medical expert.
