WHAT IS THE VECTRA XT 3D SIMULATOR
Vectra XT 3D is an innovative and revolutionary software that allows you to see in real time the “before and after” of a plastic surgery, allowing patients to have an idea of the results they can achieve with the surgery, thus managing their expectations in a more realistic way. The system was developed by Canfield Imaging Systems, a department of Canfield Scientific, a company specialized in photographic applications in aesthetic medicine with customers all around the world.
.
IN WHAT SITUATIONS CAN THE VECTRA 3D SIMULATOR BE USED?
This technology can be used to perform a simulation in several plastic surgeries, namely:
- Augmentation Mammoplasty;
- Mastopexy with implants;
- Mastopexy without implants;
- Reduction Mammoplasty;;
- Liposuction;
- Abdominoplasty;
- Rhinoplasty;
- Gynecomastia.
HOW DOES THE VECTRA 3D SIMULATOR WORK?
The system uses 12 digital cameras that collect 3D images of the patient, then building a three-dimensional model of their current appearance. These images are then processed by the software and the doctor uses the simulation tools to create an image of the expected result after the surgery, additionally enabling visualization from different angles. Using this advanced technology gives the patient a clearer idea of the results to be obtained with the surgery, while also making it easier to clarify any doubts with the doctor. It is easier to explain in detail what is intended with the surgery and the doctor can ascertain whether the patient’s expectations are realistic.
Vectra 3D also allows doctor and patient to analyze together several different options regarding the surgical procedures, choosing the one that best responds to the needs and expectations of the person undergoing the surgery.
THE VECTRA XT 3D SIMULATOR
STEP BY STEP
1. The experience with the Vectra 3D simulator at Clínica de Cirurgia Plástica LMR in Lisbon begins with photographic image capturing of the area of the body or face to be treated. This is the starting point of your plastic surgery medical appointment towards obtaining the desired result.
2. Using innovative and revolutionary software, our plastic surgeons will show the results that can be achieved. In the case of Augmentation Mammoplasty, you can simulate the result with implants of different sizes and shapes.
3. After viewing the images from different angles and clarifying all your doubts, a treatment plan will be presented. This revolutionary technology allows you to have an idea of the results and reduce the insecurity regarding the final results of the surgery.
BENEFITS OF VECTRA 3D
Using Vectra 3D has proved to be a very positive experience for patients as having an idea of the surgery result helps to reduce the doubts they may have regarding the procedure as well as better understanding the entire process towards the desired result.
In the case of breast implants, for example, the doctor can make simulations with different sizes and shapes of implants, enabling the patient to analyze various possibilities and choose the one she feels more comfortable with. As the images captured in 3D are very real, the plastic surgeon can clearly identify any breast asymmetries and correct them during the surgery.
Although it is possible to view in real time the “before and after” a surgery, it is important to understand that the final result may not be exactly what was visualized in the simulation. The Vectra XT 3D is a simulation tool and the final result of the surgery depends on several factors such as the genetic characteristics of each patient, the elasticity of the skin, amongst other factors. All doubts related to the surgery or other procedures as well as the patient’s expectations should be analyzed together with the plastic surgeon.

FAQ about
Vectra XT 3D – Plastic Surgery Simulator
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SIMULATOR RESULT AND THE FINAL RESULT?
We can never forget Vectra 3D is only a simulator and it does not have the capacity to evaluate characteristics such as skin quality, flaccidity, etc. Together with the plastic surgeon evaluation, a joint decision can be reached regarding what is best for each case, and then visualizing a possible result.
IN THE CASE OF AN AUGMENTAION MAMMOPLASTY, IS IT POSSIBLE TO SEE WHICH IMPLANTS ARE MOST SUITABLE FOR MY CASE?
Yes. With this technology you will be able to preview which is the best set of implants both in size and shape. You can also preview the result of associating a breast lift to your procedure.
DOES THIS TECHNOLOGY ENABLE ASYMMETRIC BREASTS EVALUATION?
Yes. The vast majority of women have asymmetrical breasts. This software enables the evaluation of this asymmetry regarding both the volume and the position of each breast. Your plastic surgeon will be able to design a surgical plan that will retrieve the symmetry and harmony of your breasts.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO PREVIEW THE SCAR POSITION?
Yes. During the initial medical appointment, Dra. Luísa Magalhães Ramos will indicate the position of the scar.
IS THE SIMULATION IN VECTRA 3D INCLUDED IN MY MEDICAL APPOINTMENT?
Yes. We were the first clinic in Portugal to make Vectra 3D available to our patients. It has proved to be a very positive experience and is an excellent tool for communicating with our patients. Whenever possible, we provide a simulation of the surgery result to our patients.
