What is Hyperhidrosis?
Hyperhidrosis is a disease characterised by excessive sweating. Perspiration (sweating) is a fundamental mechanism for regulating body temperature, controlled by the autonomic nervous system. This excessive sweat production is common in the armpits, palms, feet and in some cases the hairline, causing great discomfort on a personal, social and professional level. Excessive sweating is not related to external reasons, which is why it cannot be controlled.
Who it's for
treatment of excessive sweating with toxin?
Hyperhidrosis or hypersudoresis affects men and women of all ages, so treatment with toxin can be carried out by anyone who does not wish to resort to surgery to remove the sweat glands.
What results can I expect
After treatment with Toxin
The application of toxin almost completely eliminates the production of sweat in the treated area, which translates into a better quality of life. The results of the treatment are temporary, lasting approximately 6 to 9 months. For long-lasting results, you should have the treatment 1-2 times a year.
Treating Hyperhidrosis with Toxin
In addition to its dermo-cosmetic use, toxin is also indicated to treat certain pathologies, particularly hyperhidrosis, and is a minimally invasive option for those who don't want to resort to surgery. The treatment involves small injections of toxin at strategic points, which have an inhibitory effect on the sweat glands, temporarily reducing the production of sweat in these areas.
In which areas of the body can
apply toxin for excessive sweating?
The toxin can be applied to various areas of the body where there is excess perspiration. The most common areas are the armpits, palms and feet, and in some cases it can also be applied to the hairline (scalp) and nape of the neck.

Frequently Asked Questions about
Hyperhidrosis treatment with toxin
Is toxin application safe?
Treatment of hypersudoresis with toxin is minimally invasive and has a very low complication rate. However, for it to be carried out safely, you should choose an accredited clinic and a doctor with several years' experience in carrying out this type of treatment.
What is the price of treatment for excessive sweating in Lisbon?
The price of treatment for excessive sweating can vary depending on the areas to be treated and the amount of product needed. During your medical consultation, you will be presented with a treatment plan with the corresponding prices for your specific case.
Is the treatment painful?
The application of toxin is quick and practically painless as very fine needles are used. However, if necessary, an anaesthetic cream can be applied to the area to be treated to make the treatment more comfortable.
How long does it take to get results?
The toxin almost completely eliminates the production of sweat in the treated area temporarily. After applying the toxin, the effects appear after 3/4 days. The final result is noticeable after two weeks.
How long do the results last?
As it's not a permanent treatment, the results last around 6 to 9 months. To maintain long-term results, you should repeat the treatment periodically.
From what age can I have the treatment?
Treatment of excessive sweating with toxin can be carried out from the moment body development is complete. This occurs on average at the age of 18.
Can applying toxin to one area of the body increase sweating in other areas?
When hyperhidrosis is treated with surgery, what is known as compensatory or reflex hyperhidrosis can occur, i.e. the sweat glands start to produce more sweat in some areas to compensate for its absence in others. In the case of treatment with toxin, it blocks the nerve activity of the sweat glands at the site of application, keeping the autonomic nervous system intact, so there is no risk of sweating more in other areas.
What are the benefits and advantages over other types of treatment or surgery?
The great advantage of treating excess perspiration with toxin is that it's a non-invasive procedure that doesn't require surgery, so you can resume your daily activities immediately after treatment.
What side effects can I expect after treatment?
The treatment is generally well tolerated and complications are rare. After applying the toxin, small bruises may appear in the area of application, but these disappear after a few days.
What are the contraindications of the toxin?
Treatment is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Specific health conditions should be assessed by a specialist doctor.
