BEFORE AND AFTER Sonia
Abdominoplasty, Septoplasty and Turbinoplasty

- Abdominoplasty: Sonia had excess skin and marked stretch marks on her abdomen that she wanted to remove. With her condition and the passing of the years, her skin was losing elasticity, becoming more flaccid, forming folds and hindering her daily hygiene and mobility, which was already very limited because she was in a wheelchair. So we performed an abdominoplasty to remove the excess skin below the navel, leaving a discreet scar along the underwear line, similar to that of a caesarean section. During the surgery, a hernia was also corrected and Sonia's abdominal diastasis was treated, i.e. the separation of the straight muscles of the abdomen, which reduces the strength of the trunk and favours the appearance of new hernias. The result was a flatter, firmer abdomen and an improved quality of life.

• Septoplasty and turbinoplastySonia had a deviated septum and rhinitis, which made it very difficult for her to breathe. To correct these functional aspects of her nose, we performed a septoplasty to correct the deviated septum and a turbinoplasty to reduce the size of the nasal turbinates and improve airflow and breathing. .
Sonia's story
Sónia, 40, is a woman of courage, determination and an example that, even with reduced mobility, it is possible to change and take care of yourself.
She spends most of the day in a wheelchair due to a road accident she had in 2017, which damaged her spinal cord and left her paraplegic and, over time, she began to feel the physical and emotional weight of her condition.
She had a lot of excess skin on her abdomen, which hindered her mobility, which was already very limited, her daily hygiene and caused her constant discomfort. To restore Sonia's comfort and confidence, the Dr Alice Varanda Pereira realised a Abdominoplasty, The procedure was carried out to remove excess skin from the abdomen and correct an umbilical hernia and abdominal diastasis - the separation of the straight muscles of the abdomen that compromised the strength of the torso. This intervention improved Sonia's mobility and autonomy, allowing her to feel light and confident again.
During the process, he was also diagnosed with a deviated nasal septum and rhinitis, which affected his breathing and rest. A Septoplasty and Turbinoplasty realised by Dr Catarina Duarte They gave him free breathing and more restful nights.
Sonia also treated her bruxism, which caused tooth wear and headaches, and started a hair treatment to recover the volume lost due to traction alopecia.
Today, Sonia looks in the mirror and sees a new version of herself - lighter, more confident and happier.
More than a physical transformation, this intervention has given Sónia back her strength, autonomy, comfort and self-esteem, reflecting her enormous determination and will to live with more confidence. It is a true story of overcoming and an inspiring reminder that, even in the face of challenges, it is possible to change, have more self-esteem and live a better life.
