Biography and Career

DOCTORS' ASSOCIATION: registration no. 42810, specialising in Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

She studied medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, at S. João Hospital. In her final year of medical school, she undertook an Erasmus placement at Ghent University Hospital in Belgium. This placement was instrumental in her decision to specialise in Plastic Surgery, as the department in Ghent was, at the time, one of the most advanced in the world, which fascinated her.

Before starting his general internship at the Vila Nova de Gaia Hospital, she spent three months at the Royal Victorya Hospital in Belfast, working as a Junior Doctor in the General Surgery Department.

In 2005, she began his Plastic Surgery speciality at the S. José Hospital in Lisbon. During this time, she sub-specialised in the field of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, having worked in world-renowned centres, namely at the Prof Ivo Pitanguy Institute (Rio de Janeiro), in Pieta Clinic (Curitiba, with Prof Ruth Graf) and at the clinics of Dr Alan Matarasso and Daniel Baker (New York). At the same time, she also dedicated herself to breast reconstruction, (having trained at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York) and the reconstruction of facial malformations (Craniofacial Malformations Rehabilitation Hospital of the University of São Paulo).

Dr Luísa Magalhães Ramos is registered with the Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Speciality College. It is also Member of the Portuguese Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, from International Federation of Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

After completing the Speciality in Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Dr. Luísa was the doctor in charge of the Plastic Surgery unit at Hospital de Santo Espírito until she decided to dedicate herself exclusively to her private practice.

Her growing dedication to Plastic Surgery and the personal investment she has made in sub-specialised courses and in differentiating equipment and instruments have turned the clinic into a benchmark, in one of the best plastic surgery clinics in Portugal.

Dr Luísa Magalhães Ramos takes part in various courses and congresses every year to keep up to date, and is also invited as a speaker at various scientific events. At the same time, every year she welcomes students from other countries and colleagues interested in visiting her clinic and learning about the techniques she has developed.

Over the last eight years, Dr Luísa Magalhães Ramos has had the opportunity to speak regularly about her work on various television programmes (from news to entertainment) and to provide radical changes for women in need and with low self-esteem.

At the moment, she is mainly dedicated to facial surgery (eyelids, nose and cervico-facial lift) and breast and female genital surgery.

Plastic surgery was, and still is, a predominantly male field of activity. One of the objectives and concepts developed by Dr Luísa Magalhães Ramos is to have a clinic with exclusively female professionals, an innovative and unique concept in Portugal and many other countries, where highly differentiated and specialised women.These professionals, with particular areas of sub-specialisation, come together in a team with exceptional characteristics to treat, care for and provide medical services in an environment of proximity, understanding and unparalleled empathy.
