What is Gluteoplasty with implants?
A buttock augmentation, or buttock augmentation with implants, is a growing trend in aesthetic procedures worldwide. It's a procedure that increases the volume and improves the shape of the buttocks.
Generally speaking, patients with a slim body and poor gluteal projection, who want to increase the volume and projection of the gluteal area, In the case of patients with gluteal implants, they are not indicated for gluteoplasty with implants, as they do not have enough localised fat deposits to perform a fat graft in the buttocks. In the case of patients with localised fat deposits in other areas of the body, gluteal implants can be combined with fat transfer in a combined procedure.
Gluteal implants are placed with the submuscular technique, This is a safe, reliable technique that allows you to achieve a harmonious and natural body contour. This is because, regardless of the volume of the implant, submuscular gluteal augmentation has the advantage of perfectly covering, protecting and concealing the implant, making it almost impalpable and invisible.
For those looking for permanent gluteal augmentation results, The most common treatment options are fat grafting and gluteal implants. Although the gluteal filler with the application of collagen biostimulators can offer very satisfactory visible results, it is a short-lived result that requires recurrent treatments to maintain the results.

after Gluteoplasty with implants?

Surgery Procedure
Gluteoplasty with implants
1. A chat with the doctor
The first step in your buttock augmentation with implants is the medical consultation. The medical team will talk to you to understand your motivations, expectations and the results you want to achieve with the surgery. A detailed body assessment will be carried out, as well as your medical history to confirm whether you are suitable for surgery.
2. 3D simulation
You will also have a 3D simulation with our Vectra XT software, which allows you to simulate the outcome of the surgery taking into account your goals and your physical characteristics, so that you can get an idea of the result that can be achieved with the surgery.
3. Detailed explanation
Finally, a personalised treatment plan will be presented and the risks of surgery, care before and after surgery and what you can expect from the surgery and the result will be explained.
4. Budget
After the medical consultation, you will be presented with a detailed quote personalised to your case, as well as the payment facilities available at our clinic. You will also be able to book the date of your surgery, should you decide to go ahead with the procedure.
Other Indications
Gluteoplasty
Buttock augmentation with implants is not performed solely for aesthetic reasons. Other indications for buttock augmentation include:
- Muscle hypotrophy;
- Correction of congenital deformities, such as underdeveloped or atrophied buttocks;
- Correction of acquired deformities (accidents, tumours, retractions, among others);
- Asymmetries or irregularities;
- Excess sagging skin.
Types of implants
and Technique
At LMR, we use round silicone implants, The size is selected according to the patient's objectives and previous anatomy.
The implants are placed in submuscular plane and the incisions are about 3 cm long and are located in the intergluteal fold (between the two buttocks).
Type of Scar
Like any surgery, buttock augmentation with implants leaves scars, which tend to become less obvious with the passage of time and are usually almost unnoticeable.
The gluteoplasty scar is small and is located in the area between the two buttocks, making it very inconspicuous.
Type of Anaesthesia
Buttock augmentation with implants can be performed with sedation and local, epidural or general anaesthesia - it depends on the areas to be treated, the combination of procedures and the characteristics of each patient. It is up to the anaesthetist to decide the type of anaesthesia for each particular patient.
Buttock Augmentation:
Implants vs Fat Grafting
Implants:
Gluteal augmentation with implants is a good option for patients who want to permanently increase the volume and projection of their buttocks and who don't have enough body fat to perform a fat graft or who want more obvious results. The submuscular gluteal augmentation technique has a high level of safety and reliability and offers excellent results.
Fat:
Buttock augmentation with fat makes it possible to use the patient's own fat, with a very low rejection rate. It is indicated for those who have localised fat deposits in areas of the body that can be transferred to the gluteal region. Patients are often looking not only to enlarge their buttocks but also to remould certain areas of their body using liposuction.
Gluteoplasty surgery
with Implants step by step
MARKING THE STANDING PATIENT
Buttock augmentation markings are made while the patient is standing, before being anaesthetised, so that the areas of the body to be treated can be correctly visualised.
SEDATION
Sedation is injected by the anaesthetist and then, when the patient is asleep, local anaesthesia is administered.
DISINFECTION AND PLACEMENT OF SURGICAL DRAPES
The gluteal region is disinfected to reduce the risk of infection. Operating drapes are then placed to isolate the area to be operated on from the external environment.
THE INCISIONS
Small incisions of around 3 cm are made in the intergluteal fold, through which the implants will be inserted.
BAG DETACHMENT
A submuscular pocket is created to place the implants.
PLACING SIZERS
Sizers are introduced - samples similar to real implants that are placed before the real implants to ensure that the result matches the patient's expectations.
BATHING THE IMPLANT IN ANTIBIOTICS AND INTRODUCING THEM
The aim is to reduce the risk of infection. After bathing in triple antibiotic therapy, the implant is then placed in the gluteal region.
INCISION CLOSURE
The incisions are closed in planes using absorbable thread.
SURGICAL GLUE
The surgical glue seals the skin, requires no dressings and gradually falls off after 15 days. The patient can shower as the scar is completely isolated.
RECOVERY
The patient is woken up by the anaesthetist and then transported to the recovery room where they remain under observation until they are discharged. In recovery, the patient should lie on the buttocks for 1 hour. Throughout the post-operative period, the patient can sit and lie on their buttocks.
POST-SURGICAL FOLLOW-UP
After discharge, our team is available to answer any questions you may have. In the post-operative period, you should have manual lymphatic drainage, follow all medical instructions and be seen by our team on the days indicated.
