Description Clinical Case
She was a 41-year-old mother of two. After two pregnancies, there was a large diastasis (a large gap) in the rectus abdominis muscles, which affected her “still pregnant” appearance until the surgery was performed (about a year after her last birth).
This woman underwent two procedures in a single operation - liposuction of the flanks and abdominoplasty:
- Abominoplasty - To remove stretch marks and some localised fat, correct sagging and diastasis (pulling away) of the rectus abdominis muscles. This surgery consists of plication of the muscles (which results in better definition of the waist and has the effect of an internal girdle) and resection of excess skin, with transposition of the navel.
- Liposuction - To better define the contour of the back, vibroliposuction was performed using the tumescent technique.
Post-surgery
The post-operative period requires rest, avoidance of exertion, use of a compression belt and lymphatic drainage.
The description of this clinical case is merely informative and does not dispense with the need for a consultation with a doctor specialising in plastic surgery, as this is the only way to clarify the indication for each procedure and the inherent risks and complications.
