The buttocks are a highly valued part of the body, both for women and men. There are various gluteal shapes and if you're not happy with yours, you should know that there are now different surgical techniques adapted to the different results you want. Find out all about it here.
It's almost impossible to imagine a beautiful body without firm, round buttocks. Due to the shape of the pelvis, the hips and the amount of fat and its distribution, the buttocks can have different shapes: square, “V”, round and inverted heart. Buttock augmentation and remodelling is currently one of the most common surgeries performed by men and women all over the world in search of a solution to achieve round, full buttocks. Proof of this are the actual figures from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPC), which counted more than 21,000 buttock augmentation procedures in 2015, including fat grafting, buttock lifts and buttock implants. In 2014, the figure was around 19,000. There are different procedures, with different techniques and methods, to achieve glutes with more volume and harmony. We'll explain. But it never hurts to remember that before any surgery you should talk to your plastic surgeon about your expectations and the techniques available to achieve the desired results.
Gluteoplasty
This procedure involves placing silicone prostheses in the buttocks. It is more permanent and has the advantage of not needing to be reapplied, as with fillers. It is the most effective procedure if you want to enlarge your buttocks and improve their definition. The surgery consists of an incision in the upper part of the intergluteal fold, i.e. the upper area between the buttocks. This way, the scar is not visible. Like all surgeries, it involves careful preparation with local anaesthesia and sedation. The recovery period is approximately two weeks. Post-operative care includes restrictions on sports, care of the scar, use of a shaping belt, caution with sleeping positions, among other precautions that your plastic surgeon will recommend and that we advise you to follow carefully.
Body hyaluronic acid
Another technique for achieving the desired shape of your buttocks is through the application of body hyaluronic acid. The application of body hyaluronic acid for gluteal augmentation is a quick procedure with local anaesthesia and sedation and is discharged the same day. One of the main advantages of this surgery is the quick return to your routine (after 2 or 3 days). However, you won't be able to exercise for 1 month. The results are not definitive, so to maintain the results you should repeat the application after 12 - 18 months.
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance which, because it is synthesised in our bodies, is not associated with bacterial proteins that can cause allergic reactions, thus passing all safety barriers. This solution makes it possible to give the buttocks contour and volume quickly and effectively, with visible results immediately after surgery.
Fat grafting - Lipofilling
The Lipofilling consists of removing excess fat from other parts of the body, such as the flanks, abdomen and inner thigh, and after treatment it is injected into the buttocks in order to achieve the desired shape, thus obtaining a natural and long-lasting result. This is a very effective and safe alternative, as the patient's own fat means there will be no allergic reactions or rejection. This technique has been gaining a large number of followers because it simultaneously improves the contour of the buttocks and other areas of the body where there is excess fat.
Different buttock shapes
The most common shape is the square, where the waist and hips are similar in size, as are the top and bottom of the buttocks, which makes the arse look flat when viewed from the side. The “V” shape shows a greater accumulation of fat in the waist and hips than in the lower part of the buttocks, giving the sensation of forming a “V”. In the case of rounded buttocks, the fat is evenly distributed, so the arse is round. Finally, there's the inverted heart shape, considered the most feminine and the most desired, since the waist is narrower and the glutes are rounder, with more volume in the lower part, giving the shape of an inverted heart.
