Body procedures
Dr Mariana da Rocha Martins, specialist in Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, registration no. 55124
- Mastopexy with implants: After having children, Paula's breasts sagged, with excess skin and a lack of volume. We therefore carried out a Mastopexy with Prostheses in order to reshape and lift her sagging breasts, giving them more consistency and volume.
- Lipoabdominoplasty: Paula had excess localised fat on her abdomen that she wanted to remove. In addition, her skin had lost its elasticity, becoming more flabby and forming folds, which bothered her a lot. In order to improve her body contour and make it more harmonious, we performed an abdominoplasty combined with liposuction.
Paula's story
Paula, 59, is proof that you can be reborn no matter where life takes you.
She has a very complicated life story, largely due to her depression, loneliness and the bullying she suffered for being obese, especially during her childhood. She has seen the scales swing dramatically during life's challenges. After reaching 88 kilos, followed by a drop of 49 kilos. To this day, she still carries deep insecurity and sadness.
Her life was marked by altruism, especially towards her family. However, this came at the cost of neglecting herself, because she didn't feel worthy of attention or care. Loneliness and regret were constant companions, intensified by the tragic loss of her mother in 2014, which left her without her greatest emotional and physical support, having been left to look after her father who suffered from profound Alzheimer's.
Over the years, Paula faced “severe burnout”, “nervous exhaustion” and “major depression”, which led her on a painful pilgrimage to doctors and therapies. Tired of the ineffective treatments that tried to cure her on a mental level, Paula sought a reverse approach: improving the outside in the hope of curing the inside. She expresses disgust at her own image, the result of years of heartbreak and an inferiority complex, and sees a change of look as a way of regaining her lost self-esteem.
Today, with a new image, she is a happier, more self-confident woman with a hopeful path ahead of her!
