Main trends in plastic surgery for 2024? Do you want to know more about it? Then this article is for you!
Plastic surgery has helped many people to aesthetically improve their bodies, increasing their self-esteem, confidence, well-being and quality of life. And 2024 will be no exception.
If you'd like to have some aesthetic correction but haven't yet had the courage to go ahead, who knows if 2024 won't be the year you finally take that step. Often, those who resort to plastic surgery also do so for physical health reasons.
THE 10 PLASTIC SURGERY TRENDS FOR 2024
One thing is certain: on the whole, cosmetic surgery never goes out of fashion. According to the 2022 report by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), there has been a 19 per cent increase in the total number of procedures performed since 2019.
However, aesthetic trends tend to change rapidly, also with the help of technological evolution and advances in medicine.
Here are 10 key trends in plastic surgery for 2024.
1. Natural-looking results
As people say, New Year, new life! Or, in this case, New Year, new body! However, this expression, more than ever, should not be taken literally. In 2024, less is more!
Extreme and drastic changes to the face and body, which were more common in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s, are becoming less and less fashionable. The results of cosmetic surgery are intended to be more natural, less invasive and more obvious. Both on the face and body, patients prefer to make small improvements, preserving their structure and enhancing their natural beauty.
It's important to bear in mind that surgery isn't always the solution. Patients who are only looking to smooth out eye wrinkles and don't have excess skin are not suitable for surgery, but rather for minimally invasive facial rejuvenation treatments, such as wrinkle treatment with Botox or fillers with hyaluronic acid. For women who just want to treat cellulite, liposuction is not the answer, but body remodelling treatments such as EMTONE.
At LMR Plastic Surgery and Skin Boutique by LMR we offer a wide range of surgical and minimally invasive treatments to treat our patients individually and achieve the result they are looking for.
2. Breast reductions, mastopexies and minor implants
There is a growing demand for breast reduction surgery. It's no coincidence that in the last four years, the number of breast reductions has increased by 54 per cent, according to the ASPS.
The demand for larger breast implant sizes has decreased and patients who wanted implants before becoming mums are now opting for breast lifts, or mastopexies without implants, to correct sagging breasts without increasing their volume. In fact, mastopexy has been in the top five most requested surgical procedures for two consecutive years, according to the ASPS.
Similarly, the number of women wishing to replace implants placed a few years ago with a smaller size, or even remove them, has been on the rise.
The "less is more" trend is here to stay and even has a number of medical advantages.
3. Body contouring
Gone are the days when people used to say that "fat is beauty". And we're not saying this for aesthetic reasons, as some people feel good about their bodies even with a few extra pounds, but for health reasons. It has been proven that excess fat can bring increased health risks.
At the same time, pregnancies and the body's natural ageing process often lead to weight fluctuations, causing changes in body contour, such as the accumulation of fat deposits in certain areas of the body, as well as excess skin and sagging, especially in the abdomen. More and more men and women are seeking to correct and improve these changes in their bodies by having plastic surgery.
Liposuction, liposculpture and lipoabdominoplasty have become increasingly popular over the years and will continue to be treatments in high demand in 2024.
4. Combined procedures
Performing combined procedures in a single surgery will continue to be a trend in 2024. The advantages are many: more improvements to the face/body can be achieved with a single anaesthetic, a single operation and the patient only has to go through the recovery process once.
On the body, a popular example of combined treatments is lipoabdominoplasty, which combines liposuction and abdominoplasty to remove localised fat, as well as excess skin and sagging abdominal muscles.
Another example is the mommy makeover, an LMR trademark designed to restore a woman's body after motherhood, which combines a breast procedure, such as breast augmentation or mastopexy, with a body contouring procedure, such as abdominoplasty and/or liposuction, to help women regain their pre-pregnancy shape.
On the face, a combined treatment that is also in high demand is the facelift with peeling, to improve the appearance of the face, treat signs of ageing and improve skin quality.
5. Customistion
Because we are all different, adopting a special, customised approach for each patient guarantees more satisfactory results.
There is an increasing need to establish treatment plans tailored to each patient's personal needs, characteristics and expectations. Plastic surgeons play a key role in advising on the procedures best suited to their patients' needs.
In 2024, aesthetic medicine will continue to provide individualised solutions, tailored to the characteristics and lifestyle requirements of each individual.
6. Technological Advances
The equipment and techniques used in plastic surgery are constantly evolving. And 2024 will bring many new developments in this area.
Even in the preoperative phase, there are more and more ways to help patients anticipate and choose the result they want, from 3D images to virtual reality or artificial intelligence.
At LMR we have state-of-the-art equipment, and we are always up to date with new technological advances that improve our work and guarantee better results for patients.
7. Safety
As technology advances, aesthetic procedures are becoming more popular, more accessible and, above all, safer. And in 2024 the trend is: minimum risk, maximum satisfaction.
But this is a trend that also depends on you. Find out more and choose the clinic and plastic surgeon who will perform your surgery and make sure you're in good hands.
8. Rapid post-operative recovery
Technological developments and research have paved the way for more efficient, safer procedures with better results and a faster, more comfortable recovery.
In a world where everything happens so fast, there is an increasing need and desire to recover quickly and with fewer complications from plastic surgery.
These new solutions allow patients to avoid long periods of inactivity and downtime, without compromising good results or their health.
As an example, at LMR we have been performing rapid recovery mammoplasty since 2012, where the surgery is performed under local anaesthetic, on an outpatient basis and the patient is discharged with mobility on the same day.
9. Aesthetics and well-being
Plastic surgery can be the first step towards a change in lifestyle. Aesthetic procedures offer quick fixes, but many patients aren't just interested in a quick fix. They want to build a lifestyle that maintains the results of their aesthetic procedures.
Although surgery brings long-lasting results, it is very important to adopt a healthy diet and an active lifestyle to maintain the results achieved with surgery for longer.
The holistic approach between plastic surgery and well-being is a trend for 2024.
10. The most popular surgeries
Liposuction/liposculpture, abdominoplasty, lipoabdominoplasty, as well as breast augmentations with natural results, and mastopexies or reduction mammoplasties, which remove excess breast tissue, remodelling the breast to a more proportional and firm size, will be the most popular body plastic surgeries.
On a facial level, face and neck lifts, chin implants and jaw modelling should dominate cosmetic surgery in 2024.
Looking for a trustworthy Plastic Surgeon is the greatest guarantee of obtaining the desired results and regaining self-esteem and confidence in 2024!
